CROYDON BLUEJAYS
1949 - 1994
Founded in 1949 as Bluejays (Dulwich) they were renamed Beckenham Bluejays in 1962 (which was appropriate as they played at Beckenham Place park) and reached their first National final five years later, losing to Liverpool Yankees in 1967.
In 1971 they moved to Rose Hill park and renamed Croydon Bluejays. They won the league title in 1974 but unfortunately this was at a time when the South was not affiliated with the National governing body, so they never got a chance to compete in the National playoffs.
In 1984 they won their only National championship, beating Hull Mets in Waltham Abbey.
In 1991 they moved once again, this time to Clapton FC in East London where they played for one season as Newham Bluejays.
The following year they joined the new Independent National League and with it returned to Croydon, where they would play a further two seasons.
In 1994 they moved to Bromley, but never got to play at their new diamond. They played, and lost, just four games before folding.
